Recycling Stations

In Oslo, we have many recycling stations of different types. Read more about them here.

RecyclingID

When you live in Oslo, you can choose between many different recycling stations, both big and small. At the small recycling stations, you can deliver small amounts of household waste free of charge.

At the big recycling stations, where you can come by car, you can deliver household waste up to 20 times each year free of charge. After 20 deliveries, you pay a fee each time.

To show us that you live in Oslo, you have to have a valid RecyclingID (GjenbruksID). This is a QR code that is connected to information about you in the National Population Register. You scan the code upon arrival at one of the big recycling stations. You don't need RecyclingID at the small stations. Click here for more information about RecyclingID and how you get it.

If you live in Oslo, but are registered in another municipalty or another country, you can still apply for RecyclingID. Follow the link above for more information, or contact us.

You can either have the QR code stored on your phone (or print it out), or you can find it in the official Oslo app "The Oslo Key" (Oslonøkkelen). Click here for more information and links for downloading the app.

We don't store personal infomation about you in our systems.

Big recycling stations

There are three big recycling stations. These are stations where you can come by car and deliver bigger amounts (3 cubic meters) of sorted waste types, such as broken furniture, waste from renovating your home (tiles, pipes and more), wood, hazardous waste, big appliances such as washing machines, garden waste (max. four waste sacks of garden waste at Smestad), and much more.

You can also deliver functional items to the our reuse sections: furniture, lamps, sporting goods, books, and much more.

The stations are open Monday - Saturday. More information and opening hours (only in Norwegian):

Medium recycling stations

At the two medium sized stations, you can also come by car, but you can deliver smaller amounts (1 cubic meter) of sorted waste types. These include many of the same types as at the biggest stations, such as garden waste, but not all of them.

You can also deliver functional items to our reuse section: furniture, lamps, sporting goods, books, and much more.

The two stations are open Monday - Saturday. More information and opening hours (only in Norwegian):

Small recycling stations

There are nine small recycling stations. They are store-like stations, indoors and often located in central areas of Oslo. They are primarily for pedestrians or cyclists. You can deliver small amounts equal to what you can carry with you, limited up to two waste sacks (max. 200 litres each).

Typical waste you can deliver here is cardboard, plastic waste, small entities of wood and metal waste, electronic waste, batteries, and more.

You can both deliver and take away functional items from the reuse sections at each station: small electronic items, cups, plates, interior items, books, and other small items.

The stations are open Monday – Friday. More information and opening hours (only in Norwegian):

Mobile recycling stations

We also have so-called mobile stations, which are containers that are moved around to the same stops at the same time every week. They stop for 1,5 – 3 hours per stop. There are four different containers that each have its own route.

The mobile stations don't have reuse sections.

The stations are open Monday – Thursday. More information and opening hours (only in Norwegian):
